WORKSHOP SUPERVISOR

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate daily workshop activities across all estates.
  • Lead and supervise mechanics and workshop staff across all estates.
  • Ensure timely repair, servicing, and preventive maintenance of all vehicles, machinery, and equipment.
  • Monitor equipment condition and ensure minimal downtime to support estate operations.
  • Maintain proper service schedules and records for all assets.
  • Assign tasks, monitor performance, and ensure work is completed efficiently and safely.
  • Provide guidance, training, and technical support to mechanics.
  • Ensure discipline and compliance with company policies.
  • Assist in the implementation and monitoring of mechanisation programs across estates.
  • Ensure all mechanisation equipment is properly maintained and utilized efficiently.
  • Work closely with the Mechanisation Coordinator to improve productivity through mechanisation.
  • Provide feedback and recommendations on equipment performance and upgrades.
  • Monitor workshop expenses, including spare parts, tools, and repair costs.
  • Ensure proper control and usage of spare parts to avoid wastage and pilferage.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records of tools, parts, and consumables.
  • Assist in budget planning and cost optimisation initiatives.
  • Ensure all workshop activities comply with safety regulations and company SOPs.
  • Enforce proper use of PPE and safe working practices.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of workshop areas.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements (e.g. machinery safety standards).
  • Prepare and submit regular reports on workshop performance, downtime, and maintenance activities.
  • Coordinate with Estate Managers and other departments on equipment requirements and issues.
  • Assist in investigations of major breakdowns or incidents and recommend corrective actions.
  • Perform any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Management from time to time.

 

Requirements:

  • Diploma or Certificate in Mechanical Engineering / Automotive Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 3 – 5 years of experience in workshop or heavy equipment maintenance (preferably in plantation environment).
  • Experience supervising mechanics or technical teams.
  • Strong knowledge of plantation machinery, vehicles, and mechanisation equipment.
  • Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple sites and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Basic computer skills for reporting and record-keeping.
  • Based in Bintulu, Sarawak (remote area).
