PROCESS ENGINEER – VERTICAL STERILIZATION
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operate and monitor vertical sterilizers to ensure effective sterilization of Fresh Fruit Bunches (FFB).
- Troubleshoot process issues and recommend corrective measures to reduce downtime and improve throughput.
- Prepare and maintain records of sterilizer performance, efficiency, and process deviations.
- Ensure adherence to internal standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety guidelines, and statutory requirements.
- Work closely with the maintenance team to plan preventive maintenance, identify recurring issues, and ensure sterilizer reliability.
- Collaborate with mill operations, maintenance, and quality teams to ensure consistent product quality.
- Ensure all sterilizer operations follow statutory safety requirements (e.g., pressure vessel regulations, DOSH guidelines).
- Collaborate with other departments (lab, boiler, workshop, maintenance) to ensure smooth mill operations.
- Provide technical guidance and training to operators on vertical sterilizer processes.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Mill Management and Top Management from time to time.
Requirements:
- Candidate must possess Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years’ hands-on experience operating vertical sterilizers in a palm oil mill.
- Solid understanding of thermodynamics and familiarity with Dalton’s Law or Partial Pressures.
- Good knowledge of deaeration and dehydration concepts and key parameters affecting sterilization efficiency.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting ability and detail-oriented with a proactive approach.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work under pressure in a mill environment.
- Based in Bintulu, Sarawak.
