OIL PALM MECHANISATION EXECUTIVE

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Identify estate areas suitable for mechanisation (e.g., harvesting, loose fruit collection, spraying, transportation, in-field evacuation).
  • Pilot test new mechanisation projects and provide recommendations to Management.
  • Introduce, evaluate, and implement new technologies or equipment to improve productivity.
  • Develop annual mechanisation plans and budgets aligned with estate operational needs.
  • Coordinate daily mechanised operations with estate teams.
  • Monitor machinery utilization rates, productivity targets, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Oversee regular servicing, preventive maintenance, and repair schedules for machinery.
  • Train operators and mechanics in proper handling and safety procedures.
  • Support the setup, organisation, and maintenance of estate workshops.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA/DOSH safety standards and company policies.
  • Track mechanisation performance KPIs (e.g., MT/hour, cost per hectare, downtime).
  • Analyze cost-benefit of mechanisation versus manual labour.
  • Recommend cost-saving measures while maintaining operational efficiency.
  • Train Field Supervisors, Operators, and workers on mechanisation techniques.
  • Conduct continuous improvement sessions on machinery handling and field application.
  • Support compliance through mechanisation practices that reduce environmental impact.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Management from time to time.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Engineering, Plantation Management, Mechanical Engineering, or related fields.
  • Minimum 3 – 5 years’ experience in oil palm estate operations, preferably with exposure to mechanisation projects.
  • Strong technical knowledge of agricultural machinery (tractors, harvesters, motorised cutters, spraying equipment, etc.).
  • Good leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and plantation management systems.
  • Willing to work in remote estate locations and travel between sites.
