Boilerman
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operate and monitor the operation of boilers, including starting up, shutting down, and adjusting boiler systems in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Monitor boiler performance parameters such as water levels, pressure, temperature, and fuel consumption regularly, and take necessary corrective actions to ensure optimal boiler efficiency and safety.
- Monitor boiler related services, repairing and maintenance work.
- Attend and follow up DOSH inspection on boiler, water treatment and air emission monitoring test.
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance tasks on boilers, including cleaning, lubricating, and replacing parts as necessary.
- Ensure steam boiler operation in safe condition which complies to the Factory and Machinery Act 1967
- Monitor and control fuel consumption, ensuring an adequate supply of fuel is available.
- Respond promptly to boiler alarms, emergencies, and breakdowns, and take appropriate actions to minimize downtime and maintain production continuity.
- To have proper Boiler Chemicals Inventory control system.
- Record and maintain accurate logs of boiler operations, maintenance activities, fuel consumption, and any incidents or repairs.
- Follow strict safety protocols and procedures, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, such as the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) guidelines.
- Able to work on shift rotating basis and on ad-hoc basis.
- Collaborate with other mill personnel, including supervisors, operators, and maintenance technicians, to ensure effective communication and smooth operation of the mill.
- Work closely with other mill operators to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Participate in scheduled shutdowns and overhauls of boiler systems.
- Maintain cleanliness of the boiler house and work area.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Mill Management or Process Engineer from time to time.
Requirements:
- Candidate must possess at least SPM / SPMV / IKM / Professional Certificate or equivalent.
- Possess a valid Boilerman Grade 2 or Grade 1 certificate issued by the Department of Occupational Safety and Health in Malaysia.
- Minimum 3 years of working experience in supervising boiler operations in a palm oil mill.
- Willing to work additional hours and, on occasion, weekends in support of business needs.
- Good understanding of boiler operation principles, including combustion controls, water treatment, and safety procedures.
