SENIOR SUSTAINABILITY & COMPLIANCE EXECUTIVE
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive sustainability strategy aligned with Malaysia’s palm oil industry standards, guidelines, and relevant regulations.
- Identify key sustainability objectives, targets, and action plans to improve operational sustainability.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with Malaysia’s environmental, health, and safety regulations, as well as social and community standards.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) and International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) Principals and Criteria.
- Stay updated with the latest regulations, industry practices, and certifications related to palm oil sustainability and implement necessary changes to ensure compliance.
- Engage and collaborate with government agencies, local communities, contractors, neighbouring estates, NGOs, and certification bodies to build positive relationships and foster sustainable practices.
- Collect, analyze, and report data on sustainability performance, including environmental impact, social indicators, and adherence to Malaysia’s palm oil sustainability standards.
- Establish an audit procedure to monitor the effectiveness and practicality of the overall operations in the plantation & mill.
- Identify areas of non-compliance with certification requirements and recommend corrective actions.
- To confirm quantity measurements by examining the oil extraction rate (OER) in storage tanks and the kernel extraction rate (KER) in silos, and ensuring that the resulting computation corresponds to the mill’s declared report.
- Plan and coordinate internal and external audits to assess compliance with Malaysia’s palm oil sustainability standards.
- Facilitate the certification process for sustainability schemes such as the Malaysian Sustainable Palm Oil (MSPO), Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) and The International Sustainability & Carbon Certification (ISCC) certification.
- Develop and deliver training programs to enhance employee awareness and understanding of sustainability practices, compliance requirements, and Malaysia’s palm oil industry standards.
- Promote a culture of sustainability and compliance throughout the organization.
Requirements:
- Must possess at least Bachelor’s Degree in Plantation Management/Agriculture/Agriculture Science or related fields.
- Minimum 3 – 5 years in handling RSPO, MSPO & ISCC certification will be an advantage.
- Excellent interpersonal, presenting, strong analytical, report writing and communication abilities in English (verbal and written), as well as the ability to interact with others.
- Able to identify and evaluate risk, as well as to recommend solutions.
- Good understanding, comprehension and articulation of auditing and accounting principles.
- Willing to reside in remote area.
- Based in Bintulu, Sarawak.
